DNA Grandparentage Test
Fast, Powerful and Proven
The DNA Grandparent Test is used in situations where the alleged father is not available for testing. Either the grandmother, or the grandfather, or both can take the DNA grandparentage test to investigate the likelihood that they are the true biological grandparents of a grandchild. There is no age limit for DNA testing so the test can be performed on infants as well as adult grandchildren. The full genetic report is included with every test.

Description
During a DNA grandparent test, a buccal swab (mouth swab) is taken from the grandparent(s) and the grandchild to collect cells containing genetic information in the form of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). Each person’s DNA represents a unique “genetic blueprint,” akin to a fingerprint.
In the laboratory, the DNA is extracted from the cells, and specific DNA regions are amplified through a process called PCR (polymerase chain reaction) for thorough scrutiny. The grandparent’s DNA pattern is then compared to that of the grandchild. A statistical analysis is conducted based on the match type typically expected for true grandparent/grandchild pairs, producing a “grandparentage index.”
True biologically related grandparent/grandchild pairs usually have a grandparentage index value greater than 1.0 in their DNA grandparentage test report. Conversely, individuals who are not biologically related as grandchild/grandparent tend to have a grandparentage index value lower than 1.0.
The higher the grandparentage index value over 1.0, the higher the likelihood that the grandparent/grandchild pair is related. Conversely, the lower the grandparentage value is below 1.0, the lower the probability that the two individuals are related.
Turnaround Time
DNA Grandparent Testing is completed 3 to 5 business days after the samples arrive at the laboratory. Results are released immediately once the testing is completed.
Scheduling

FAQ
Who should consider the Private Test option?
The private home test kit option is suitable for individuals who wish to find out the truth about maternity before deciding on the next step. If a private test is ordered, a buccal swab (mouth) swab DNA kit is sent directly to the parties involved in the test for sample collection. The sample collection process is quick, easy and discreet and takes just minutes to complete. Once the laboratory receives the samples, testing is completed within 3 to 5 business days.
Can the kit be shipped to more than one address if the parties live in different cities?
If the people being tested live at different addresses, we can divide the DNA testing kit and send each part to separate locations. The kits have barcodes to make sure the samples are still tested together when they arrive at the laboratory. To get a split kit, write “please split this kit” in the comments section of the online order form and give us the name and address of where to send each part. For example, you could say “send the Alleged Father’s part to…(provide name and address)” and “send the Child’s part to…(provide name and address).” Alternatively, you can have the complete kit shipped to you and divide it yourself, and then send the parts to the other people involved in the testing.
Who should consider the Legal Test option?
Legal DNA tests are commonly used to provide court-admissible evidence for or against biological relationships in various legal scenarios, including court cases, custody and estate disputes, and inheritance. If you choose the legal testing option, we will schedule an appointment for all parties involved to provide samples at one of our designated Genetrack chain-of-custody sample collection facilities, which are located across the U.S. for your convenience.
What if the parties to be tested live in different cities or do not wish to attend the same appointment?
We know that it can be challenging when people involved in DNA testing live in different cities. To make things easier, we can arrange separate appointments for each person at their own location. Our scheduling department will coordinate the appointment dates for each individual, making the process as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
Is the Private Home DNA Test as accurate as the Legal Test?
The Home DNA Test is just as accurate as our standard legal tests and will provide absolutely conclusive results. The only difference between the private test and the legal test is whether the sample collection is witnessed.
